Things to know and understand prior to signing up for and attending this event:

  • This event complies with the state guidance for this jurisdiction(s)

  • Know the symptoms of COVID-19. Do not travel and participate in this event if you have any of them listed here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html

  • If you are at high risk for severe illness or have a compromised immune system, please consider your risk tolerance for attending this event.

  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer regularly to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

  • Please wear a mask while not actively racing.

  • No day of race registration; plan ahead

  • Please, no spectators at this event

  • No post-race gatherings such as podium presentations. Please cool down by yourself, thank the volunteers while wearing a mask and be on your way.    

  • Understand and comply with OBRA rule 21.2:

21.2 All persons present at an event must wear a face covering intended to stop disease transfer that covers the nose and mouth when within 6 feet of another person at all times, with the exception of actively racing participants. When actively racing, participants must follow mask rules set by the promoter; additionally, masks must be worn by participants any time a participant is interacting with or near a person not actively racing (including, but not limited to, at the start line and after crossing the finishing line as quickly as is safe to do so).

Each individual participant is expected to fully understand the stated rules. Failure to comply with Rule 21 may result in disqualification, removal from venue and suspension for up to one year 

  • Warming up is not considered “actively racing”. Warm up by yourself. Wear a mask if you are warming up near others.

  • Come prepared with your own food and water. 

  • Be respectful of our community and please avoid unnecessary interactions with community members.

We strongly encourage you to only race locally and limit your travel to other areas. If you do travel outside of your local area, please travel alone or with people from your household. Limit your interactions with others while traveling. 

The Twilight Time Trial Coburg course is 15.1 miles on flat roads with a gentle right curve and two right hand corners. The road surface is generally predictable with a few potholes near the fogline in the first three miles. A course map can be viewed HERE; a Ride With GPS file can be found HERE. Racers will start at 60 second intervals starting at 6:30pm. Non-motorized bicycles with two brakes (or fixed gear bicycles with one brake) are allowed (see Section 7). Race numbers will be worn on your right side. You may wear your own number (preferred) or a race number will be provided. You are not required to check in before your race unless you need a race number. Number pickup will be available from 5:30-6:25pm. The startlist with starting times will be emailed to registered racers by 4pm. Results will be posted when avaialble at https://obra.org/results.

Registration:

THERE WILL BE NO ON SITE REGISTRATION. Register online before noon on race day. Expect that masks will be required at the venue and all racers and volunteers will adhere to social distancing measures. Gaps between starting times will be 60 seconds and there will be no start line bike holder.

Entry fee: $15/night, $65 for the 5-race series ($10 for juniors, $45 for junior series)

  • Online registration available until noon on each day of the series.

  • Race waiver for the series must be completed and signed by racer (or guardian if the racer is a minor) online.

  • A 2021 OBRA (Oregon Bicycle Racing Association) racing license is required; $5 for one-event license or $40 for annual license ($10 for junior racers). You can buy an annual license at any time at obra.org or at the time of purchasing your registration.

Prizes:

Twilight Operations awards $100 cash to the fastest men’s and women’s time of the month and custom medals to series top 3 of each category (points awarded to top 10 finishers of each category each day, points combined for final total). A special cash prize of $25 for the fastest junior women’s and junior men’s time of each evening of racing is generously offered by local racer Flo Leibowitz. Prizes awarded will be available for pickup as soon as results are certified following the final race of the series. There will be no awards ceremony. If you choose to wait (patiently) for results to be completed by the officials, please avoid congregating in a way inconsistent with social distancing. We prefer you head home following the race and make arrangements by using the contact form to collect prizes or receive in the mail.

Important Race Info:

The Coburg Community Charter School campus is not open to guests at this time. They are graciously allowing us to use their parking, but further use of their grounds is not permitted. If you bring a trainer for warmup, set it up by your car, not on the grass or under the awnings. Portapotties will be provided near the start line.

The roads of the course are open to traffic. Racers are expected to stay to the right as possible to minimize impact on local traffic.

Helmets are required anytime you are on the bike: before, during, and after the race.

No drafting is allowed. Overtaking riders should call out loudly and pass on the left (while staying right of the centerline). Riders being passed should stay to the right as possible and must not block passing riders.

Always be aware of what is in front of you. DO NOT RIDE WITH YOUR EYES DOWN.

The CENTERLINE rule will be enforced. Any centerline violations may result in disqualification.

DO NOT stop or stand EVEN MOMENTARILY in the emergency vehicle exit lanes at the Coburg FIre Station near the start/finish. Obstructing the exit lanes of emergency vehicles or personnel before or after the race may result in disqualification.

Please extend good will to the residents and business owners of Coburg with your courteous manners and purchases at local businesses!

Eddy category specific rules: Riders in the class will compete without: aero bars or extensions, disc wheel, fairings, aero helmets (any helmet specifically built as an aero helmet and any helmet that has been modified to approximate a helmet specifically built as a TT helmet is not allowed), skinsuits, or wheels with rims greater than 40mm in depth. Bicycles which may have aerodynamic shapes but are designated to be sold as road bicycles (and are not user modified time trial bicycles) ARE allowed.

Directions:

From the North or South: Take I-5 to exit 199 and follow signs for Coburg. Head West along E Pearl St. until it ends at N Willamette St. Turn right onto N Willamette St. and follow it North through town until it splits onto N Van Duyn St. Turn left onto N Van Duyn St. and follow it to Coburg Rd. N Turn right onto Coburg Rd. N and park at the school.
